The wine has focused acidity on the palate with an elegant fruit driven, and slight mineral lingering finish supported by the oak.
Grande Provence Merlot
The 2018 harvest yielded significantly smaller berries with more concentrated flavours which inspired us to produce our very first Merlot. The Grande Provence Merlot started out as a component for our The Grande Provence Red blend, and it still is, but it also evolved into a standalone wine due to its fruit purity, its elegance and complexity. The vineyard is situated in the Helderberg region that gets a lovely cooling sea breeze which results in smaller berry formation with a lot of concentration. It allows us to extract and form a very elegant tannin structure.
This Merlot front notes of vibrant dark cherries and raspberries with hints of wild herbs, tomato leaf and dark chocolate enlivened by touches of cinnamon, cloves, orange peel and earthy tones. The palate is supported by a supple, smooth tannin structure.
Grande Provence Cabernet Sauvignon

The result is a full bodied rich wine with bold flavour and structure and intense flavours of peach, melon and quince. The wine is rich, full-bodied with upfront layers of fruit and well-integrated oak.
The Grande Provence Red
This wine is a perfectly balanced, full-bodied and multi-dimensional blend with a beautiful deep garnet hue. It exhibits a powerful and complex aroma with notes of cigar box, cherry tobacco and cedar, overlaid with cassis, roasted strawberries, bright red cherries and raspberries. The wine has a smooth, supple entry with seamless integration of oak. The flavours on the palate echo those found on the nose and are cradled by pliable, polished tannins that linger like a first kiss. This is a classy and perfectly balanced example of a modern take on Bordeaux.
The Grande Provence The Amphora
There is something to be said about following in the footsteps of ancient Greek and Roman winemakers who embraced this ‘technology’ thousands of years ago, using clay hewn out of the earth to cradle and nurture a living liquid. The journey of The Grande Provence Amphora wine began when the winemaker decided to import two 400L clay amphorae from Manetti Gusmano and Figli from Florence, Italy, with seven generations of experience in crafting their superb vessels. A small block of Chenin Blanc (33 years old) in Franschhoek was selected and only the very best yellow, sun exposed bunches were picked to maximise the health, flavour and aromatic expression of the wine.
