Grande Provence wins Wine by the Glass Trophy in the inaugural The Sommeliers Selection Awards
Grande Provence Chardonnay 2013 has stepped into the spotlight as a trophy winner for Wine by the Glass in the first of The Sommeliers Selection awards.
Judged entirely by a group of respected local Sommeliers who are all members of the South African Sommeliers Association (SASA), the categories for the awards are structured like a wine list, with 100 wines from close on 400 entries included in this year’s selection. The Grande Provence Chardonnay took top honours in the full/rich category for wines by the glass.
Elegant and full bodied with outstanding fruit and wood integration, the 2013 Chardonnay boasts citrus, almonds and creamy flavours on the nose and palate with nuances of vanilla. It has a soft and well balanced mouthfeel with an elegant, lingering finish.
Matured for 11 months in 60% first fill and 40% second fill French oak barrels, it is perfect to enjoy now as a taste partner for smoked fish, creamy seafood dishes as well as roasted pork or chicken.
The Grande Provence Chardonnay 2013 sells for R140 at the Grande Provence Tasting Room, and can also be found at leading wine shops and fine dining restaurants. For added convenience, this wine can be purchased online. Purchases of 12 bottles or more qualify for free delivery anywhere in South Africa.
